This week’s reading comes from a classic study by the famous anthropologist Margaret Mead (I attached the document), who examined gendered behavior and relations among three different tribes in Papau, New Guinea. After you have completed the reading, please respond to the following points.
1. Briefly describe the characteristics of men and women in each of the three tribes.
2. Discuss what the findings of this study suggest to you about the origins of sex differences. In other words, do these findings make you more likely to believe that sex differences are rooted in biological factors, social factors, or a combination of both?
