Furthermore, a‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍nxious patients are less likely to follow post-operative precautions, engage in more risk behaviours (., inactivity) and experience more painful and complicated recovery (Upton et al., 2012). Pre-surgical education (prehab) improves patients’ post-operative outcomes and reduces hospitalization costs through several pathways, including both increasing patients’ health literacy (De Oliveira et al., 2015) and reducing pre-operative anxiety.
