The Scholarly Article
Final Paper – The Scholarly Article
Your Final Paper for this class is essentially a revised and expanded version of the CBR Report and Analysis. You will build off of the data you collected for the Community-Based Research Project by adding a literature review, developing your analysis of your interview data, and using that analysis to make an argument in response to your research question.
The final product will be a Scholarly Article. It should be at least 7 pages long (maybe longer) and follow the conventions of the scholarly article genre. It will include the following sections:
Introduction — an explanation of your research questions and some background/context of the interview and interviewee. This section may be revised and expanded to foreground your thesis.
Literature Review — a discussion and synthesis of relevant secondary research, including at least 4 scholarly sources.
Method — description of the research method (interview), how that interview was conducted, and how data was collected. If further data was collected after the CBR Report, then this section will need to be revised to include that.
Analysis — discussion and analysis of each of the codes you developed from your interview data. This section should be revised to foreground your thesis.
Discussion — a conclusion discussing the importance and relevance of your findings, and emphasizing your overarching argument.
Reference List — APA-style bibliography for all secondary sources cited.
Appendix — include your coded transcript at the end of your report
You will cite your sources using APA style and include an APA-style reference list as well as a title page. (Title page, reference list, and appendix do not count towards final page count.)
