S‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍ummative Assessment Education in Arts & Cultural Settings Module: Creative Learning at Southbank Centre There are two components to the assessment of this module: Essay: students will deliver their assessment in written form (3000-word essay; 50% of the mark) Presentation: students will present on their assessment topic (10-minute presentation; 50% of the mark) ESSAY There are two options for the topic of assessment. Choose one of the following: a) Taking one of the session topics as your starting point (for example, Heritage Learning, Hayward Gallery, Working with Schools or Arts and Wellbeing), provide a contextual analysis of how and why Creative Learning activities in this area have gained importance. You are expected to draw on a range of historical, policy and theoretical literature to support your thinking, and include at least two recent examples of Creative Learning activities (one of which should be a Southbank Centre example) to demonstrate your understanding of Creative Learning in practic‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍e. You are invited to use both UK and international examples in your answer. OR b) Taking one of the following phenomena as your starting point, consider the future of Creative Learning as a cultural practice, and what kinds of alternative or altered forms of practice might be necessary for successful informal learning experiences in large arts organisations: • the impact of Covid-19; • recent changes in UK cultural policy (examples might include the push towards arts and health, the importance of the Creative Case for Diversity, the significance of strategic partnership); • the ‘pivot’ to digital engagement in arts participation and consumption. You are expected to draw on a range of historical, policy and theoretical literature to support your thinking, and include at least two recent examples of Creative Learning activities (one of which should be at Southbank Centre) to demonstrate your understanding of Creative Learning in practice. You are invited to use both UK and international examples in y‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍our answer.
