This essay assignment requires you to write a thesis-driven essay on a scene I like to call the Intelligence Agency Scene from the film, North by Northwest (HERES A LINK TO THE SCENE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7gKFleV_JU), your essay should be based in logical reasoning, upon valid evidence, and displaying knowledge of the terms and methods of film studies, specifically analysis methods for the film frame, that is to say, mise-en-scene, focused upon composition and design within the film frame.
Develop a thesis on the Intelligence Agency Scene, considering both frame composition and design and present your in a short, well-written argument essay.
The essay should be written to about 5 to 7 paragraphs. It should display attention to word choice, grammar, mechanics, and spelling. It should provide your reader a useful introduction of topic and thesis, body paragraphs explaining and supporting your thesis, and a graceful conclusion. Word choice, sentence structure, and paragraph structure counts. But so also, your ability to engage in a mise-en-scene analysis of the assigned scene.
Essays written on an alternate scene will not be graded.

Do not confuse shot with frame. A shot is identified and analyzed for its proxemics, movement, and other characteristics; a shot analysis considers the types of shots both present and not present in the scene.
For now, concentrate on the arrangement of objects (people, things) within the film frame in view of balance versus imbalance, as well as matters of design to find implicit and explicit meanings. (setting, decor, costumes, hair/makeup, props, lighting, and blocking). Please don’t include information about shots.
