provide insight on a topic related to environmental justice and health
FINAL PROJECT PROMPT For this assignment, imagine you have been invited to give a brief 5–10-minute lecture for a class like ours. You must explicate and provide insight on a topic related to environmental justice and health—it can be one we’ve gone over in our syllabus (or not), but it cannot be the same topic you’ve written on in the two previous assignments. Your subject may be a particular environmental justice issue (e.g., climate change, pollution, extreme weather, etc.), a theory or framework that explains environmental injustice (e.g. extractivism, the denigration of nature, colonialism, etc.), a social analysis of environmental injustice (the relationship between gender or race and the environment, etc.), a historical account of social movements responding to environmental injustice, a proposal for how to best counteract environmental injustice, and/or simply a meditation on an environmental concept, analogy, or related representation. Whatever you decide, you must explicitly use two authors from the syllabus, at least one of whom you’ve not written on before. This prompt is purposefully broad—you get to pick what you’d like to write or speak and how you’d like to approach your subject matter. If you’ don’t know where to start, pick a topic or theme or concept that you’ve found compelling this semester and explain why you find it compelling. Your lecture should have similar components to an essay—summary as well as argument, an introduction and a conclusion, etc.—but it can be less formal and take a conversational tone. You have the option of either writing out your lecture or submitting an audio or video recording of you giving your lecture. Either way, it needs to be at least 1,200 words
