Select a trait scale that has been developed for use with one culture but re-validated for use in another culture.
Select a trait scale that has been developed for use with one culture but re-validated for use in another culture. I recommend using the database PsycTests to find a scale and the database PsychInfo to search the literature for studies on that scale. Discuss the following:
*general rationale for re-validation studies (also called “cross-validation”)
*the psychometric soundness (reliability/validity estimates) of the scale as developed in the original culture
*the specific rational for re-validating this particular scale, and the new psychometric soundness (reliability/validity estimates) of the scale
*any closing thoughts you may have (e.g., usefulness of the scale in heterogenous groups, limitations of the scale, future directions for research)
I have attached a brief article for some context; feel free to use this paper as a source.
Recommended length: 2-3 pages
Sources: At a minimum, you will need two journal articles (one for each culture in which the validation was done)
