IT allows healthcare practitioners to access and evaluate patients’ evidence based on care strategies. For example, IT is used to analyze the relationship between music and anxiety before surgery. Predominantly, patients experience anxiety before surgery due to concern about the state of the disease diagnosed, unfamiliar hospital environment, operation safety, and pain associated with surgery (Xu et al., 2021). The EBP implements music in the operating room to decrease patient anxiety levels and improve patient satisfaction to solve the problem. Music therapy works by stimulating perceptual responses related to the emotional state that impacts stress and anxiety levels (Cimen et al., 2020). Additionally, music helps express feelings and can facilitate patient motivation before surgery (Cimen et al., 2020). Furthermore, music modalities can help patients deal with emotional and psychological problems and are associated with fewer or no medications, reduced postoperative pain, and promoting a fast recovery time (Cimen et al., 2020). Obtaining these results involves collecting data using IT techniques and analyzing them on computers to obtain synthesized insights to make decisions. Thus, IT can help in data collection and analysis to obtain EBP. I would decline the request to submit an abstract to a conference with the colleague. Presentation at conferences is an added advantage for the publication of the study. In the conferences, the article can be reviewed by other scholars who may have sufficient knowledge of the problem and the field that can be a good resource for the credibility of my work. The transmission of the EBP change project results is critical to boosting the project’s impact. According to Harris et al. (2020), the objective of presenting the outcomes is to communicate the process and outcome with the intended audience. Project presenters are expected to be well-versed in the entire change process and its outcomes. It would be problematic for one who did not contribute in the project to properly describe the initiative’s development, outcomes, and effectiveness. Although the findings are not significant, I would still publish my findings with no change from the pre- to post-intervention. For evidence-based practice change efforts to succeed, they must be a balanced and equitable opportunity to be shared. Researchers might avoid repeating the same projects by sharing insignificant results and coming up with an alternative theory based on the negative findings. The findings could add more knowledge and justify the already available knowledge through a different approach. Finally, having diverse knowledge on a specific topic that uses a different methodology and research design contributes to a specific subject. IT supports and enables successful execution from the inception of the project’s idea to the dissemination of the outcome. Furthermore, IT enables retrieval, collection, storage, protection, analysis, and sharing of information and data regarding EBP projects. Therefore, it would be impossible to develop and execute a successful project without IT. We can retrieve information from remote libraries and internet resources to develop the project across its lifecycle. IT enables the collection, storage, and analysis of the data from the implemented project. According to Harris et al. (2020), IT connects appropriate metrics and systems to measuring of the project’s significance. In addition, IT allows for “greater functionality, conversion, and utility” of the collected data (Harris et al., 2020, p. 183). Dissemination of the EBP change project results is essential to promoting the impact of the project. Harris et al. (2020) indicate that the purpose of presenting the results is to share the process and outcome with the target audience. Project presenters should have detailed knowledge about the entire process and results. It would be difficult for someone without a significant role in the project to effectively communicate the development, outcomes, and sustainability of the improvement project. All people involved in the project development should understand how dissemination will occur, which should be addressed at the project’s inception (Harris et al., 2020). To avoid jeopardizing the data, only those with significant involvement should present the EBP change project. Results should be published even if they are negative. Researchers and the scientific community should have access to positive and negative outcomes from research. Granqvist (2015) states that we ignore a vast amount of information by only publishing positive results. There should be a balance and equal opportunity to share knowledge.
