What kind of information did each website have?
All Questions to be answered separately with the reference under each one. – VERY IMPORTANT Question One What Motivates You? You have learned much about yourself, including what motivates you to succeed. You are unique and your motivators reflect your individuality. What motivates you now may be different than what motivated you 10 years ago and what will motivate you in the future. In this discussion, you are asked to consider and share the thoughts and experiences that motivate you at this time. Instructions: 1. Take a moment to think about what motivates you personally. This could pertain to your personal life, professional life, family life, or any aspect of your life! 2. Next, answer the following questions: 1. What is your motivation for attending college? 2. Why do you think it is important to understand your motivation in college? 3. What does motivation do for your well-being and enjoyment of college, aside from grades? 4. In Unit 1, you learned about some of the student resources available to you at Herzing University. Which student resources have you utilized so far, and how has that impacted your motivation for accomplishing your educational goals? Please be sure to validate your opinions and ideas with citations and references in APA format. Question Two Instructions – APA Formatting Let’s imagine you are now a college instructor. Congratulations! Now it’s time to start grading papers. A student has submitted an essay which has used secondary sources but has not acknowledged the various authors. • For your initial prompt, provide an example of your feedback to the student. This feedback should fully describe the issue and explain why it is a problem. • Then, outline a plan of action for the student to follow in order to re-submit their essay. You may use bullet points to outline your plan to the student. Please be sure to validate your opinions and ideas with citations and references in APA format. Question 3 – Source Evaluation Instructions Think of a health issue that interests you. Then, go to the following government websites and explore each website to find information about the health topic you have chosen. (You may need to adjust your topic if you do not get results—that’s okay.) Explore each website. • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Links to an external site.) • The National Institutes of Health (Links to an external site.) • The World Health Organization (Links to an external site.) In your initial post, fully compare and contrast your search results. • What kind of information did each website have? • How was the information similar? How was it different? • What are you able to infer about the purpose or mission of each of these organizations? • What did you learn about the topic you did not previously know? • What surprised you or seemed unexpected? Please be sure to validate your opinions and ideas with citations and references in APA format. Question Four – DOIs and the Reference Page Instructions As you learned in the reading for Unit 4, URLs (web addresses) associated with the retrieval information while others only have a series of numbers. These numbers are known as Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs). The purpose of a DOI is to clearly and directly identify content and provide a persistent link to its location on the Internet. For our discussion, this week, use the Herzing online library to conduct a search of peer-reviewed sources related to the topic you identified in the Unit 2 assignment. Find an article that includes a reference page. Examine the reference page. • Are there any sources that include a DOI? • In addition, what additional sources does the reference page lead you to that would be useful to you? In a well-developed initial post, walk your classmates through the process as you conducted your search. • Then, explain what insights you had as you reviewed the reference page for your source. • Finally, make the case for the DOI and its ability to give the reader instant access to the exact same information you are using to inform or persuade them. Please be sure to validate your opinions and ideas with citations and references in APA format. Question Five Positive Attitude The role models you identify as “successes” did not get there without adversity, obstacles, and challenges. They simply focused on their outcome and did not allow themselves to become sidetracked with guilt or excuses. “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you will find.” They focused on exactly what they wanted and formulated the internal belief and attitude that it was attainable. The common denominator to success and life balance is a positive attitude. Did you know that it takes the same amount of energy to formulate a positive thought as it does a negative one? Positive thinking is ultimately about structuring your belief system; that is, substituting positive images for negative ones. It is the process of consciously filtering out unhealthy thoughts and cleansing the mind. For the discussion, find a quote about attitude on the website (see link) that resonates well with your personal views on what you believe about your current attitude (or what you want your attitude to be). • (Links to an external site.) Then, answer these questions about your quote in 3-5 sentences: 1. Explain to your classmates why your quote is important to you. 2. How will your quote motivate you when you face a challenge to accomplishing your academic goals? 3. How will your quote change your attitude? Before submitting a response, proofread all posts thoroughly for any spelling and grammar errors. Please be sure to validate your opinions and ideas with citations and references in APA format, especially listing the quote website as a reference. Question Six: Reflection Please respond to the following questions based upon these course objectives: • Identify Herzing University resources. • Engage in self-reflection related to academic and professional success. • Demonstrate personal success skills. Please answer the following questions with supporting examples and full explanations. 1. For each of the learning objectives, provide an analysis of how the course supported each objective. 2. Explain how the material learned in this course, based upon the objectives, will be applicable to the professional application. Provide evidence (citations and references) to support your statements and opinions. All references and citations should in APA format.
