This paper is a literature review. This paper aims to assess the incredibly high rate of physical and sexual abuse among women in the indigenous tribes in the united states. This paper is not due until April 10th so there is no urgency. this particular professor is a stickler so please read the directions carefully as this paper is worth a lot of points. I have directions below but i will also upload the rubric and other information. Purpose The purpose of this assignment is for students to practice standards of cultural competence, including enhancing awareness and building knowledge about a social issue impacting a specific historically underrepresented/marginalized cultural group. Students will achieve this by identifying and researching a topic and population of interest and interviewing a cultural informant based on the population selected during Week 1’s assignment – Research Topic Description. Overview. Write a 1,750- to 2,800-word paper about an issue of your interest that affects a specific cultural/racial/ethnic group. You should have selected your topic in Module 2: Research Assignment 1: Topic Description. To complete this assignment, you will have to conduct a literature search. The paper will be evaluated on how you, the writer, are able to review and synthesize the existing literature on the topic. Structure The body of the paper needs to be between 5-8 pages long. In addition, you will need to include a separate title page, an abstract page, and reference pages – THESE DO NOT COUNT AS PART OF YOUR REQUIRED 5-8 PAGES for the assignment. The paper must follow the American Psychological Association (7th Ed.) specifications (APA 7th). The contents of this paper should follow this outline: Cover page. Follow APA format for title page. Abstract page. Use a separate page for the abstract; should not exceed 100 words. Introduction. Briefly introduce the cultural group you are writing about. Define the issue/strength/challenge you are exploring. Introduce your research question or interest topic. Explain how and why you aim to advance knowledge about it, why is the topic significant to the profession of social work. Theoretical approach. Present the theoretical perspective you are taking to study the phenomenon (see textbook Chapters 5, 6, & 7). For example, you may decide to approach your study using resiliency, systems, or an ecological approach. Explain how this approach will guide your research and inform your research question. Literature review. Provide background information about the group and the social issue by summarizing relevant and current published literature on the topic. Provide a summary of the “state of knowledge” (what is known and reported in the professional/academic literature) regarding your research question. Identify any contradictions between research findings and possible gaps in the literature. Connect the existing research to your proposed study; restate your research question. Professional development. To conclude your paper, please describe how this experience enhanced your development as a culturally grounded social worker. How will you continue to enhance your learning about the cultural group described? You may use first person language in this section only. Reference pages. Prepare a separate page with all the references you cited (at least 5 references, not including textbook). Only use peer-reviewed journal articles and books as your required references in your paper. Format your references following APA 7th edition guidelines.
