Use the Bible and one to three relevant secondary sources to answer critical questions about the Gospel of Mark’s historical context. Relevant secondary sources include Bible handbooks, introductions, or surveys, of the New Testament, or introductions to commentaries on the Gospel of Mark. Please include each question in the document produced to complete the assignment. Under each question, write the answer in paragraph form, writing a paragraph of three to seven sentences. In other words, the acceptable answer for Question 1 is not “Mark,” nor is it “Mark wrote the Gospel of Mark.” The acceptable answer is the name and identity of the author. In other words, the acceptable answer consists of a name and a description the person. Note: We can only approximate answers for some of the questions. Note approximations in the answers. For example, “Mark wrote the Gospel of Mark in approximately AD 63.” The purposes of Research Exercise 1 are to develop Bible reading and Bible study skills and to gather additional information and insight, leading to the message of the text and the application of that message to a contemporary situation. Cite biblical references in parenthetical citations to identify the location of the information used in the answers. Document the secondary source material that informs the answers to the critical questions using APA style parenthetical citations and an APA style reference list. Do not include the Bible in the reference list. Format the project using APA style page format (a title page is not necessary, but use a heading; an abstract is not necessary).
