Who is this publication aimed at?
This is a Report, use minimum three books and five sources. The question to answer is 1. Role of media on the issue of immigration in the UK LO1: Consider different sources of information, examining their suitability for academic study LO2: Consider the ownership and structure of the mass media LO3: Explore different sources in relation to how people/their situation are presented and consider how this influences public perception and views within society Documentary Analysis with descriptive annotated bibliography. Introduction (200 words) Use this section to explain what the report is about. What some of the main themes are. The introduction should clearly identify the group or thing that the articles focus on. Consider the learning outcomes. The introduction should give the reader a clear idea about the contents of the report. Documentary analysis (800 words) This section of the report should focus on each of the articles that have been selected (a minimum of three). For each article the following subheadings should be used: – Bibliographic information for the article – Who owns the news publication? – Who is this publication aimed at? – How is the group/thing represented in the article? – How bias is the article and in what ways does this present itself? – Is it suitable for academic study? Discussion (800 words) This section should dive deeper into the themes of the modules and learning outcomes. The following sections are suggested: The ownership and control debate (the development of mass media, trends, the debate and theories) How groups and events are represented (folk devils and moral panics, news production) Consider how audiences can be shaped by media and how they also shape the media (definitions, audience theories) Suitability of sources for academic study (bias, influence, persuasion, burden of evidence) Conclusion (200 words) Here the main points should be summarised and a final thought should be provided for the reader to consider. Reference list Level 3 – It is expected that the Reference List will contain at least five sources. As a MINIMUM the Reference List should include three academic books. These should be Harvard referenced.
