The purpose of the signature assignment, Analysis, and Recommendations Regarding the Risk Management Policy of Hydro One is to allow the students to apply a variety of risk assessment and management concepts that could be used to enhance Hydro One’s ability to anticipate, assess and mitigate the myriad risks a Company encounters. The paper will require the application of technical skills learned in the course along with critical thinking capacity needed to discern the important elements of what is an intentionally ambiguous set of facts presented in the underlying Harvard Business School case: Enterprise Risk Management at Hydro One by Annette Mikes. SIGNATURE ASSIGNMENT CONTENT REQUIREMENTS The assignment requires responses to the following four questions: A. What is Hydro One’s strategy and what risks are faced by the Company? B. Consider the three stages of Hydro One’s enterprise risk management process; Workshops; Risk-based Asset Planning; and the Regular Update of the Corporate Risk Profile. What are the strengths and weaknesses of this process? C. Consider the roles of Gentry Lee and John Fraser, the leaders of the risk-management process at Jet Propulsion Laboratory (a case which is introduced earlier in the course) and Hydro One, respectively. What are the similarities and differences in their organizational roles and approaches? D. What recommendations would you make to CEO Laura Formusa about Hydro One’s risk management process?
