To complete this project, you must choose one of the major course themes (listed below) and put together a “playlist” of cultural artifacts (i.e., music videos, film clips, commercials, consumer ads, memes, etc.) that convey and/or disrupt that theme. Your project should be thoroughly grounded in course concepts and readings.
For 281 students, each playlist should include: 5 artifacts, a 1-2 paragraph critique of each artifact, and a 500-750 word feminist intersectional analysis of the playlist as a whole that incorporates at least 2 course readings.
For ALL students: your project should employ an intersectional analysis and focus on one of the following themes:
femininity
masculinity
controlling images
inferential v. overt racism
Bourdieu’s forms of capital
male gaze
racialized gaze
heteronormativity
