write your outline in the form of a one-page memo to your new boss, David Patrick
Your first marketing job out of college is with Procter & Gamble and you’ve been assigned to the
Mr. Clean brand team. The brand teams at P&G “test” all their new rookies with a week one first
assignment – completing a Brand Audit on the brand they will work on. The brand audit
accomplishes two things: first, it gets the new brand team member immediately steeped in the
brand as a training exercise, second it provides the brand team with a fresh set of eyes. Assume
it’s your second day at P&G. Yesterday you were asked if KU taught you how to do a brand audit.
You said yes. Your new boss said: “Come back tomorrow and take me through your outline of
how you will complete it. Your outline should show me what you plan to do and how you plan
to do it.” P&G is famous for their “one-page” memo. You are told to write your outline in the
form of a one-page memo to your new boss, David Patrick, in the P&G One-Page Memo Format.
