What was the condition of America before 1880?

Select a name that you believe might better, or also, describe America from the end
of Reconstruction to the start of the twentieth century (1900). Provide THREE
justifications for why your title should be considered as a label for America during
this transitional time.
Make sure to provide context for your paper. What was happening that sets the stage for this
event? Think about the time period that led up to the Gilded Age. What was the condition of
America before 1880? What was America trying to recover from? What had happened to the
people of the South? Lay a foundation before you start.
Somewhere in your paper, make sure you address why someone might disagree with you.
