How has COVID’s impact on different groups of people manifested as based on the articles you’ve read and videos you’ve watched?
In this first online discussion, then, I’d like us to consider the different ways the SARS COVID-19 Pandemic has impacted different groups of people in different ways. I’d also like us to consider our own experiences – in all of their varieties – and compare and contrast our experience to those of others. I’d like us to consider our own privileges and/or struggles and think about how others might have it better or worse than we do. In these comparisons, we are seeking to INCREASE our empathy and understanding, and we’re NOT trying to judge or compete with one another!
Here are the questions you’ll answer FIRST:
How has COVID’s impact on different groups of people manifested as based on the articles you’ve read and videos you’ve watched? Compare and contrast the different impacts of Covid on the different groups of people, and use the bracketed shorthand reference system included above when making direct or indirect references to your sources. For example, use [LGBTQIA+ Impacts] if referencing the USA Today article, and so on.
How do your own experiences over the last two years compare and contrast with the experiences you read about and watched? How similar, different, both, neither is your life in comparisons of these other groups? Are you a part of one of these groups and find more similarities or differences in your own experiences? Or are you someone else – an athlete, a stay at home mom, a veteran, a transgender high school student – and are experiencing other challenges not discussed as of yet? Share what you feel comfortable sharing in this format.
HOW TO WRITE IT
Use the questions I have provided as a launching point for your analysis. You do NOT have to answer each aspect of the questions I have asked – but rather use them as a starting point for your reflections.
Use at LEAST FOUR direct or indirect quotes or evidence from the seven readings/three videos I provided. each part of the book in your response to both questions. You can make more than four references, but four is the minimum.
Be sure to explain and expand upon the relevance of your quotes in your analysis. In other words, don’t just give me a quote without contextualizing it with your analysis. DON’T just babble! Be Specific! Be Evidence Based!
Be sure to include proper in-text citations and use the bracketed shorthand reference system included above when making direct or indirect references to your sources. You can also use MLA standards if you are familiar (Author Last Name pg#).
