Address what you see as the main challenges facing individuals from these groups and some “best practices” for treatment success.
Over the past two weeks we have learned that addictive disorders are found across members of all demographic groups and there are many commonalities among them. The field has attempted to recognize that some demographic characteristics carry with them some additional issues, making individuals with those characteristics members of “special populations.” The course readings address some of these concerns, but the additional TIP readings focus in a bit more detail.
This week’s discussion asks that two (2) broad characteristics of those discussed in the reading be chosen to discuss in more detail – at least one of those must be a characteristic you do NOT personally hold. Address what you see as the main challenges facing individuals from these groups and some “best practices” for treatment success.
