In that case, where does that leave religious belief? And would the existence of God be enough to recommend anything like worship?
This unit is about God and religion. We have considered attempts to use philosophical methods and arguments either to prove or disprove the existence of God. Supporting arguments claim God is necessary to explain the existence of the universe and complex organisms. Arguments against are based on the existence of evil. If any of these work, then we can settle the existence of God through reason, not faith.
In addition, we raised questions about what it means to be God, and what it means to be a religion. The Akan religion posits a Supreme Being, but does not propose any kind of worship.
Do any of the arguments we considered work? Do they make belief or disbelief reasonable? Or do they all fail? In that case, where does that leave religious belief? And would the existence of God be enough to recommend anything like worship?
