Image that you are considering for your final project
You may have heard the phrase “practice makes perfect.” Practice does not always make a skill perfect, but it does make a skill better: In this journal assignment, you will have the opportunity to practice citing and analyzing an image in preparation for the next module.
Select an image that you are considering for your final project. Embed the image within your submission and cite the work according to Chicago style. Then, in about two paragraphs, practice analyzing the image by identifying its social, cultural, and historical context. Address any special significance of the medium, if relevant.
Be sure to include the following critical elements:
Selection: Identify a single work of art that you are considering for your virtual exhibition.
Image: Embed or attach an image of the selected piece.
Citation: Cite the selected work of art using each of the required elements outlined in the Chicago Style Guide.
Contexts: Identify the social, cultural, and historical elements that may have influenced your selected work of art. What is happening at the time in society, in history, and in culture? For example, what were the historical events of the time? What were the cultural phenomena? What did women do socially? Compare what women could do in that time with what women can do now. Could women go outside by themselves, go to school, go out to dinner, or run for public office?
