Explain the balance of state and federal power and how this relationship has changed over time.

This week we are examining the Constitution and Federalism. Below I have assigned essay questions. Remember to thoroughly answer all parts of the questions. A good rule-of-thumb is 3+ paragraphs per question. I would use the PPTs as a starting point for your essay questions
1) What was the primary aim of the framers of the Constitution in creating that document? Are the powers of government still adequately separated? Have the separation of powers and system of checks and balances properly restrained the government? What sorts of factors influence the balance of power between the branches? How has the balance of power between the branches shifted overtime?
2) Who Has the Power? Explain. How are federal and state powers constitutionally delineated. Explain the balance of state and federal power and how this relationship has changed over time. Explain this push-and-pull over time, specifically referencing the formal powers of the institutions – formalized in our documents.
