identify that a public health nurse may be in a position to advocate for a particular law or policy
Using the health care law or policy you researched for this week’s learning activity, create a proposal or presentation for continued funding, or passage of a piece of legislation.
The health care law or public health policy chosen for this assignment can be either an existing, pending, or proposed law or policy.
The general objective for this assignment is to identify that a public health nurse may be in a position to advocate for a particular law or policy. Knowing the general platform principles for each party provides the public health nurse the information needed to present the proposed issue to each party to glean support for the law or policy.
Once you choose a specific law or policy, you will need to describe each party platform in general (i.e., conservative and liberal general party platforms – not just related to your topic). Then, you will need to present a persuasive discussion to each party for why the program, law or policy you are presenting should continue or be enacted or funded, appealing to each party (“how the program advances the party agenda”). The “data related to the target population outcomes”, can be statistics for or against your chosen law or policy.
Create two separate proposals, (within one assignment), one that addresses liberal viewpoints and one that addresses conservative viewpoints.
Convince each group that continued funding of the program, or passage of the bill, is essential to the well-being of its recipients.
Address the following in each proposal:
The party platform principles
How the program advances the party agenda
Program data related to target population outcomes
Two scholarly, current (within 5 years) references are provided
Format your proposals as one of the following:
18- to 20-slide presentation
3- to 4-minute podcast
875-word paper
